Rescue Multimedia is committed to digital accessibility for people of all abilities.
Where we are today
We have not commissioned a formal WCAG conformance audit, so this page describes the accessibility features actually built into the site rather than certifying a compliance level. If anything below doesn't hold up in your experience, please tell us — see "Feedback" below.Last updated: September 10, 2026
Our Commitment
We want everyone — including people using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or assistive technology — to be able to read our news and reach us. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix, and we keep improving it as the site evolves.
What We've Built
- A "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page for keyboard and screen-reader users, so they can bypass the navigation menu.
- Keyboard-accessible navigation: the desktop dropdown menus and mobile menu can be fully operated with a keyboard (Tab, Arrow keys, Escape to close), with visible focus outlines and ARIA labelling (
aria-expanded,aria-current,aria-haspopup) throughout. - Semantic landmarks — header, navigation, main content, and footer regions are marked up so assistive technology can jump between them.
- A responsive layout that adapts to phones, tablets, and desktops.
- Article and photo alt text sourced from our CMS — our editorial team enters descriptive alt text for images when publishing a story.
Known Limitations
Alt text quality depends on what our editors enter for each image at publish time, and we have not yet run a full WCAG 2.1/2.2 audit across every page template. If you find a page or component that's hard to use with assistive technology, we want to know.
