Editorial Standards & Ethics

The principles our reporting is expected to follow, and how we handle conflicts of interest and paid content.

Owner input required

This page covers the standards this platform is built to support and disclose. A complete ethics policy for a working newsroom typically also names specific governance details — e.g. who adjudicates a disputed conflict-of-interest case, or the organization's formal code-of-conduct document, if one exists separately from this site — which Rescue Multimedia's editorial leadership should supply and this page should then be updated to reflect.

Editorial Standards

  • Every published story carries a named byline and publication date, unless the author is the institutional Editorial Board.
  • Stories that are later corrected or updated disclose that fact directly on the article, with a description of what changed.
  • Opinion, analysis, and editorial content is clearly labeled as such and distinguished from news reporting.
  • Headlines are expected to accurately represent the content of the article.
  • We avoid hate speech, defamation, and unverified claims presented as fact.

Sponsored & Paid Content

Where an article is sponsored or paid content, it is marked with a visible disclosure label directly on the article, distinguishing it from independent editorial coverage. Sponsorship does not grant editorial control over independent news, opinion, or investigative content.

Conflicts of Interest

Journalists and contributors are expected to disclose any personal, financial, or organizational relationship that could reasonably be seen to influence their reporting on a given story, and to recuse themselves from covering matters where such a conflict exists.

Corrections

See our Corrections Policy for how we handle and disclose factual errors.
